4. Jahangirnagar University – 697.56 acres.
Jahangirnagar University is called JU. It is located in Savar, Dhaka, with an area of about 697.56 acres. Jahangirnagar University was established in 1970, and it started functioning fully in 1972 after the independence of Bangladesh.
It is the only full-fledged residential university in Bangladesh. When it was established, its name was Jahangirnagar Muslim University. Then in 1973, it continued its activities from Jahangirnagar Muslim University under the name Jahangirnagar University.
The university offers Mathematical and Physical, Arts and Humanities, Biology, Sociology, business education, law faculty, and four institutes.
3. Rajshahi University – 753 acres.
It covers an area of about 753 acres in the Rajshahi division of Bangladesh. It is the third-largest university in Bangladesh and the second oldest university in Bangladesh. It is located on the side of Dhaka-Rajshahi highway, about 5 kilometers away from Rajshahi city.
Rajshahi College was established in 1873 during British rule to improve the education of the people of the Rajshahi region. Later, in the evolution of time, Rajshahi University was transformed from Rajshahi College on 6 July 1953. The university has 60 departments under ten faculties.
2. Bangladesh Agricultural University – 1261 acres.
Bangladesh Agricultural University is the highest school for agricultural education and research. It is located in Mymensingh city of Bangladesh on an area of 1261 acres. It is the second largest university in Bangladesh. It was established on 18th August 1961.
Its previous name was East Pakistan Agricultural University. Later during the war of independence, it was renamed as Independent Bangladesh Agricultural University and after the independence of Bangladesh, it was renamed as Bangladesh Agricultural University.
It is one of the highest-budget universities in Bangladesh. The main goal of this university is to conduct research on agriculture and work for the betterment of agriculture.
1. University of Chittagong – 2110 acres.
Chittagong University is the largest university in Bangladesh in terms of size. It is located on 2110 acres in Hathazari Upazila of the Chittagong division. It is located about 22 kilometers away from Chittagong city.
Formerly the area of the university was 1853.6 acres, which has now increased to 2110 acres. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the locals demanded that a university be established as there was no university in the Chittagong division.
That demand was implemented on November 18, 1966. There are about 21 educational institutions under Chittagong University. The students of this university became the center of the independence movement in Bangladesh.
